Undersea Oxygen Clinic F.A.Q

How long will it take before I start to see improvement?

The time it takes to see results are dependent upon the condition being treated and the individual. Some conditions may see desired results within a few treatments while other conditions may require more treatments.

The patient will be assessed prior to start of treatments, we will track and document progress, and develop treatment plan accordingly. All will continue to be be documented with periodic assessments.

Do I need a prescription for hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

Yes.  Oxygen is a drug, as such, a prescription is required. You will meet with one of our physicians for a consultation to determine if your condition may benefit from HBOT. After a prescription is written, a series of specified treatments can be scheduled.

With the patient's authorization, we will document progress with periodic assessments, photographs, and videos (where appropriate).

What if I am claustrophobic?

Confinement anxiety is uncommon.  Our monoplace chambers are equipped with clear acrylic cylinders; you can watch movies, listen to music, or sleep during the treatment.

What is a hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment like?

Prior to treatment, you will change into a 100% cotton gown. Our certified hyperbaric technologist will take your vital signs and complete a safety checklist; then you're ready to go in the chamber. At the start of the treatment (descent or compression phase) the pressure will increase and the chamber temperature will fell slightly warmer. You may feel slight pressure in your ears, similar to what you might experience in an airplane. If at any time you feel any ear discomfort, just alert the Hyperbaric Technologist; he/she will assist you with a variety of methods to clear your ears.

When the prescribed treatment pressure is reached, you will be breathing 100% medical grade oxygen. During the treatment you can relax, take a nap, listen to music, or watch a movie. Treatment time varies depending on the treatment protocol. At the end of the treatment (ascent or decompression phase) the pressure will decrease and the chamber temperature will feel slightly cooler. You will again feel a pressure changes in your ears; it will equalize during the ascent without your intervention.

How do I prepare for a treatment?

Prior to hyperbaric oxygen treatment our physician will prescribe your treatment protocol based on your individual diagnosis.

Our Hyperbaric Technologist will answer all your questions prior to the start of hyperbaric treatments.
